Privacy Policy

The short version

We do not sell your data, we do not run advertising trackers, and we collect as little as we can get away with. The only personal information we ask for is an email address, and only if you choose to subscribe.

What we collect

• Email address — only if you subscribe to the newsletter. Used to send the newsletter and nothing else.
• Correspondence — if you email us, we keep the message so we can act on it.
• Aggregate analytics — page views and referrers, in a form that does not identify you individually.

We do not ask for your name, address, phone number, or payment details. We never handle payments — purchases happen on the retailer’s site under their terms and their privacy policy.

Cookies

This site sets no advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. Where we use analytics, it is configured to avoid personally identifying visitors. Affiliate links may cause the destination retailer to set their own cookie once you arrive on their site — that is governed by their privacy policy, not this one. Amazon’s is on amazon.com.

Affiliate links

When you click an affiliate link, the retailer is told the visit came from us so any resulting commission is attributed correctly. We do not receive your identity, your cart, or what you ultimately bought — only aggregate earnings reporting. Full affiliate disclosure

Your rights

You can ask us what we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted, and we will act without requiring a reason. Newsletter emails carry a one-click unsubscribe, which removes your address.

Depending on where you live you may have additional rights — including under the California Consumer Privacy Act, and Canadian federal or provincial privacy law. We apply the same standard to everyone regardless of location: ask, and we will do it.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their information.

Changes

If this policy changes materially we will update the date at the top and, where the change affects subscribers, say so in the newsletter.
